The Lambton Locomotive Learning Trust exists to promote Learning of the Lambton Hetton and Joicey Collieries Railway and the associated coalfield through the conservation and preservation of two historic locomotives and related artefacts.

Locomotive number 29 of 1904 serves as a working ambassador for The Trust, earning income towards its upkeep and heavy repairs and number 5 of 1909. Each locomotive has survived into the twenty first century and represents a tribute to their builders, the staff who used them in their working lives and the vision of the people who saved them form oblivion and have preserved them for generations past present and future.

They represent the ‘top end’ of hundreds of hard working but low-profile steam locomotives in the North East Coalfields – the cradle of effective steam locomotion.

This can only continue with your help, whether it is a donation, purchase of a gift or the offer to provide practical support. Please look at our new website and see what a rich history and exciting futures and plans we hold in trust for these fine locomotives.
